Raina opened her eyes and slowly sat up. She looked down at her ankle that was still chained to the cot. “Damn, it. We’ll never get out of here.” Raina looked over at the other cot in the cold, cement room. “Momma?” she whispered.

Alex slowly opened her eyes and sat up. “Another day in this dungeon,” Alex said as she rubbed her ankle, where it to was chained to her cot.

Raina stood up and slowly limped over to her mother’s bed. “How long do you think we’ve been here?”

“I don’t know. A few weeks at least,” Alex ran her hands through her long, brown hair. “At least he hasn’t hurt us, yet.”

“Do you have any ideas of who it is?” Raina asked.

“None. Anyone who’s ever hated me is dead,” she laughed slightly. “What about you? Any ideas?”

Raina shook her head. “Do you think Dad and Terry realize we’re missing yet?”

“I don’t know. We were supposed to be back from our trip by now, I would think. I don’t know. I’ve lost track of time in here. If he ever sends them that letter I wrote, they’ll know something is wrong,” Alex said. “Hopefully, this bastard will show himself and then we can figure out a way to get out of here.”

“Momma, I need to get back to my kids. They need me.”

“I know, Raina. I know. Don’t worry. We will get out of here. One thing I’ve learned from being kidnapped before is that we can’t sit around and wait to be rescued. We’ll have to do it ourselves.”

Raina stood up and walked over to the metal table. She stared down at the empty trays. “Next time he brings us food, save the utensils. Or at least one of them.”

Alex looked up from her porch as Terry pulled into her driveway. “Terry, what the hell did you do to her?” Alex stood up as he ran towards her.

“Alex, where is she? Where is my wife?” Terry stopped. “Please, tell me. Where is she?”

“She’s in the gym. She ran past me, muttering something about you and headed right towards the gym.” Alex crossed her arms and shook her head. “What is going on here?”

“Alex, I’m not even sure myself,” Terry said as he headed behind the house towards the gym.

Raina punched and kicked at the body bag. “Damn, you!” she muttered each time. “How could you do this to me?” she cried as she hit the bag repeatedly.

“Raina?” Terry stood in the doorway as he watched his wife hit the bag.

Raina ignored his call and continued hitting the bag. He walked over to her and grabbed her arms.

“Raina, talk to me.”

She stopped and glared at her husband. “What?”

“You tell me.” He smiled. “What’s wrong?”

She pulled away from him and sat down on the edge of the boxing ring. “You let that, that woman fawn all over you. How could you do that to me?”

“What are you talking about?” He held her hands and smiled. “Doc, tell me, what’s wrong?”

Raina buried her face in her hands. “This whole town is falling apart.” She shook her head. “I came to see you at the precinct and I saw her with you.”

“Who? Who are you talking about?” Terry sat next to his wife. “Oh, her. I know who you’re talking about,” he laughed slightly.

“What’s so funny?” she crossed her arms.

“Doc, that was Sally Simpson. The police commissioner’s daughter.”

            “Why was she touching you?”

“First of all, she’s only 18.”

“So? You loved me when I was 18, I just didn’t know it yet.” She crossed her arms tighter.

He placed his hands on her arms. “Doc, I love you.” He tried to kiss her. “Please, Doc. Don’t you know by now how much I love you?” he grinned.

“Oh, I guess I did overreact.” Raina smiled slightly. “I’m sorry. I was never the jealous type. I don’t know why I acted that way.”
